His Excellency, Henri Paul, French Ambassador in Romania, led the official ceremony dedicated to the 11 November day.

Day when the armistice was signed in 1918 which put an end to such First World War.


Every year, France commemorates this day and pay homage to those who fought in WWI. To highlight the Iasi role in the history of the city between the two countries, besides the traditional homage to Bellu cemetery in Bucharest, this year the Embassy of France organized two ceremonies.

The first ceremony was the Monument of the French Heroes dead in World War I, at Eternity Cemetery, and the other near the statue of General Berthelot, the French officer’s memory is celebrated became honorary citizen of Romania.


His Excellency, Henri Paul, a wreath of flowers at the statue of General Berthelot, located in the courtyard of the National Theatre “Vasile Alecsandri have both laid wreaths French Ambassador, and representatives of local government and county, Garrison and the Association of Veterans War.

The ambassador was then maintained with members of the War Veterans Association.

CCO representatives have had the honor to participate with the official and cultural personalities from Romania at the cocktail organized by the French Embassy & CCF, cocktail held at the Hotel Traian in Iasi.

Excelenta Sa, Henri Paul, Ambasadorul Frantei in Romania, a condus ceremonia oficiala consacrata zilei de 11 noiembrie la Iasi. zi in care in anul 1918 a fost semnat armistitiul care punea astfel capat Primului Razboi Mondial.In fiecare an, Franta comemoreaza aceasta zi si aduce un omagiu celor care au luptat in Primul Razboi Mondial. Pentru a pune in evidenta rolul orasului Iasi in istoria comuna a celor doua tari, pe langa omagiul traditional de la cimitirul Bellu din Bucuresti, anul acesta, Ambasada Frantei organizeaza la Iasi doua ceremonii.

Prima ceremonie fiind Monumentul Eroilor Francezi morti in Primul Razboi Mondial de la Cimitirul Eternitatea Iasi, iar cealalta langa statuia Generalului Berthelot, este celebrata memoria ofiterului francez devenit cetatean de onoare al Romaniei.

Excelenta Sa, Henri Paul, a depus o coroana de flori la statuia Generalului Berthelot, aflata in curtea Teatrului National “Vasile Alecsandri”, au depus coroane atat Ambasadorul Frantei, cat si reprezentanti ai administratiei publice locale si judetene, ai Garnizoanei si ai Asociatiei Veteranilor de Razboi Iasi.


“A sarbatori aici 11 noiembrie este mai mult decat o datorie de memorie, este evocarea atat de necesara a fratiei noastre de arme. Este una dintre ocaziile de a reinnoi si de a intari si mai mult aceste legaturi privilegiate, construite in istoria noastra comuna, dar este cu precadere momentul ideal pentru a formula o dorinta, aceea a unei Europe in fine suficient de linistite, reunificate, integrate pentru a se fi debarasa de spectrul razboiului. Si nu este o intamplare ca Franta si Germania, care sau sfartecat in acest razboi si in urmatorul, sunt acum motoarele acestei dinamici”, a spus Excelenta Sa, Henri Paul.

Ambasadorul s-a intretinut apoi cu membri ai Asociatiei Veteranilor de Razboi.

Reprezentantii CCO au avut onoarea de a participa alaturi de personalitati oficiale si culturale din Romania, la cocktailul organizat de Ambasada Frantei si Centrul Cultural Francez, cocktail ce a avut loc la Hotelul Traian din Iasi.
